Markaz At Ta’lim (MAT) at Masjid Isa Ibn Maryam is recruiting a strategic and experienced Lead Teacher to lead our weekend centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the educational direction of the centre, ensuring high-quality preparation and delivery of our curriculum while maintaining absolute accountability for student welfare and statutory compliance.

Position Details

• Position: Lead Teacher & Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
• Position type: 0.6 FTE / Paid
• Salary: Negotiable
• Line manager: MAT Executive Team / Steering Committee

Key Responsibilities

Educational Leadership

Oversee the implementation of the curriculum and Scheme of Work, and conduct regular classroom observations.

Safeguarding Excellence

Act as the primary Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintain the Single Central Record (SCR), and ensure 100% compliance with Enhanced DBS registries.

Operational Management

Lead recruitment and staff onboarding, and coordinate weekly logistics and facilities risk assessments.

What You Will Bring

Essential Qualifications

• Level 3 Safeguarding/DSL certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or Islamic Studies

Experience

A minimum of three years’ experience in UK school leadership or supplementary school administration.

Knowledge

A thorough understanding of the UK Department for Education’s Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines.
